Nick grew up in a small town in the Midwest North of Dayton, OH, and has been in the construction industry nationally for 20+ years. He has participated at an executive level as a Partner in one of the largest National retail contractors in the Midwest, led the start-up of AU Construction, and co-founded Electro Green Energy Solutions.

For the past 10 years, he has focused on renewable energy conservation projects with a focus on Solar Power Generation for the past 5yrs. 

Nick was a founding partner and driving force behind EGES.  He helped develop Solar Energy Systems, including Microgrids on a global scale.  

Nick has participated in several board positions, including Habitat for Humanity, Midtown Indy, Chair of Parish Centennial Church Preservation, School Council, and Chair of Buildings and Grounds for the Riviera Club.

He resides in Indiana with his wife and 4 children.


Brian Steinkamp – Managing Partner

Finance & Legal Specialist

Brian grew up in a small town in Northwest Iowa.  Growing up working on the farms of extended family members continues to motivate and provide life lessons, motivation, and perspective.  Brian was the first in his family to attend college and obtained a BSBA in Finance from Drake University prior to obtaining a Doctor of Juris Prudence Degree from the University of Iowa.  Brian’s legal experience includes specialized domestic and international tax, corporate, labor & employment, contracts, and intellectual property.  Since 2017, Brian has been consulting and working in the renewable energy industry helping clients convert under and non-performing real estate into renewable energy power generation systems that deliver accretive financial value.  

Brian sits on multiple boards and has several publications in the renewable space, including financing.

Brian and his wife reside in Indianapolis, Indiana where they are raising their four boys.


Scott Brenton – Chief Operating Officer

Scott is a proud Indiana native.  Scott earned his bachelor’s degree (with Highest Distinction) in Industrial Management and Industrial Engineering from Purdue University.  He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard Business School.

After completing his studies at Harvard, Scott spent 14 years as Chief Operating Officer at Indianapolis-based Angie’s List.  During his tenure, Angie’s List grew from a privately held company of 10 team members and less than $1M in annual revenues to a publicly traded company boasting more than 1,000 team members and $100+ million in annual revenues.

Following his time at Angie’s List, Scott spent eight years serving as Vice President of Ambulatory Services at Indiana University Health where he built/expanded a statewide network of outpatient services including the iconic Lifeline transport program, and most of the health system’s home-based services.

Scott is also Co-Founder of The Orr Fellowship, a program focused on recruiting and retaining Indiana’s next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Scott is married to his high school sweetheart, and they have raised their three children in Central Indiana.


Adam RochfordVice President of Project Development

Adam is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in telecommunications business and management. Adam started his career working in the sustainable enterprise division of Brac, a Bangladesh-based NGO, providing off-grid solar generation systems to over 72,000 rural homes. Adam returned to the states to work in the sustainable home and commercial products, interfacing with service providers coast to coast. 

Over the last several years Adam has worked in the solar industry from publicly traded industry leaders to boutique solar development startups. 

With a background in process management and project design, Adam’s focus is in ensuring efficiency at every step of project development. Adam is a renewable energy advocate, lobbying state and federal legislators to adopt industry and climate-friendly regulations.  


Paul Cotter – Vice President of Sales

Paul was born and raised in Indianapolis and attended Indiana University.  He started out in Chemical sales 28 years ago and then shortly transitioned into Dental sales. He is incredibly excited to see where the Renewable Energy Industry will take him. 

Paul enjoys coaching youth sports, being a board member of Little League Baseball, and volunteering in his community. Paul resides in Indianapolis with has 4 children and dog named Louie.


Becky Pettit – Director of Finance and Administration

Originally from Upstate New York, Becky moved to Indianapolis in 2003 to attend Butler University where she earned a B.S. in Dance/Arts Administration. She has been a finance professional since 2010, focusing on accounting and treasury management & working in the legal and multi-family housing sectors. Becky joined the HSI team in late September 2022.

Becky is currently pursuing her MBA from Butler University and in her free time enjoys volunteering in the community, traveling, and teaching ballet. She lives in Indianapolis with her husband and two fur children.


Stephanie Manzo – Office Administrator

Stephanie is here to make sure we stay in line. She brings years of fast-paced construction industry experience to the team, where she played various roles supporting operations in accounting, bookkeeping, and office management.

Stephanie was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN and currently calls Noblesville, IN home along with her 2 children.  

She enjoys volunteering and being a part of the community. Stephanie enjoys traveling, learning new experiences, and is a self-described “foodie” and music enthusiast!


Helmut Falk – Development Analyst

Helmut was born in Flint, Michigan, the youngest of three children, but has spent the majority of his life in Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a degree in Informatics and a minor in Telecommunications.

He spent several years working for Roche Diabetes, in customer service and eventually IT support for hospitals, before switching to the solar industry.

Helmut has had to prove his mettle for every professional job he has had. He had to start out as a contractor and demonstrate his hard work and problem-solving skills to his employer, and every time he has been hired as a full-time employee. He is now excited to bring his experience and expertise to HSI Solar and the solar industry at large.

Helmut now lives in the Fountain Square neighborhood in Indianapolis. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his pets and eating meals with his parents and siblings.


Sean Staley – Project Manager

Sean Staley has been in the Electrical Trade for 10 years and has been in Solar Installation and Project Management for 8. He is a certified Master Electrician and has his NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification, as well as achieving many other training and certification programs throughout the years.  Sean has personally led hundreds of solar installations of all sizes both from a project management position and a hands-on installer/electrician position.

Sean is motivated by a drive for excellence in service, execution, and organization of projects to have a final product that he, the installers, and the customer can be proud of. 

Sean studied in Germany, receiving a Master’s Degree from the University of Bonn, before entering the solar industry in 2012.  Sean and his wife, a native of Germany, speak only German in their Indianapolis home to help their 3 kids grow up bilingual.  Sean and his wife love being active in outdoor sports and workouts.


Douglas Lomont – Customer Service and Business Development Technician/Field Service Technician

Douglas contacts sales prospects to deliver and conform receipts of information, resolve questions/problems, determine status, and generally assist in procuring business. 

He also coordinates, revises, compiles, prints, and electronically secures letters, basic electronic spreadsheets, or whatever comes his way.

Douglas is always seeking opportunities to improve his general knowledge in business, and learn from those with experience. The skills he has developed through his educational and work experiences have made him ready for a professional business environment.

Outside of the office he enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, trying new restaurants, and furthering his understanding of solar electric power generation.
